Stonewall Democrats of San Antonio recommend voting against Patrick Von Dohlen
District 9 voters are urged to vote against Patrick Von Dohlen
San Antonio, TX - May 18, 2021
On May 17, 2021 the members of the Stonewall Democrats of San Antonio voted to recommend a vote against Patrick Von Dohlen in the San Antonio City Council District 9 Runoff Election to be held on June 5, 2021.
Patrick Von Dohlen has an extensive history of inciting anti-LGBTQIA hate. In August of 2019, he signed a letter in support of the now defeated Texas bathroom bill from the anti-LGBTQIA group Texas Values. [source]
In December of 2018, as president of the anti-LGBTQIA group San Antonio Family Association, he urged his members to oppose “a homosexual female to the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women”. [source]
In June of 2019, Von Dohlen spearheaded an attempt to block the Bexar County Commissioners Court’s Pride Proclamation. [source]
Due to this and his continued support of anti-LBTQIA rhetoric, SDSA strongly urges its members and the voters of District 9 to vote against Patrick Von Dohlen.
Early voting begins Monday, May 24th through Saturday, May 29th, and resumes Tuesday, June 1st. Election Day is June 5th.
